A New Flair

Sometimes you don’t have to wait for a New Year to come to make New Changes.

Sometimes things are not taking the direction that you planned...
Sometimes things are not as good as you wished...
Sometimes life plays tricks on you and nothing works the way you would like them to...
Sometimes you get new insights and new ideas, and what you thought was great before…is now boring...

When that happens, it is a sign that you need to make some changes...

These last few days, I've been working on some changes in my life, including my wedding itself. I’ve read blogs where the bride had to (or decided to) change the venue, the flowers, the theme, the colors, the date…
I am changing the year and the type of wedding (at least for now), and I am loving the idea!!!

I will dedicate another post with all the new plans.

For now, I would like to share that I am in the process of creating a new blog. Yeeeeiiiii !!!
I really do enjoy my current blog. The opportunity it has given me to meet many other brides in the blogsphere has been amazing! However, I feel like something is missing and I believe it also needs to be changed a bit!!!

So, keep an eye out for my new blog,
new posts,
new inspiration,
New Flair.

Peacocks!

About a year ago I remember seeing on TV a bride who wanted her wedding theme to be all about peacocks. Peacock feathers, peacock colors and even real peacock at the reception.

Back then, my reaction was the same as her wedding planner: Huh?!?! Peacock?!?! That sounded just too much!!!

Today, if you look around, peacocks are everywhere...
There are so many ways that you can actually incorporate the peacock theme into your wedding and go over the top!!
It really does look beautiful...

If peacocks are on your mind, here are some inspirations:

Picture of the Week - VI: Welcome Spring

Finally spring!!

I have a feeling, and I believe some of you might agree with me, that this was a very, very, very long winter.

Yesterday was the first day of spring and I woke up with snow outside my window...how crazy was that!?!?! But with my very positive thinking, I believe that it was just a way of saying "good bye", because today it feels nice outside and I hope it will keep this way...

So...to seal the season, the picture of the week is this lovely winter wedding from Charlotte Geary Photography.

Little Bright Details...

Today, looking over one of my wedding magazines, I came across the article: On the Bright Side (Elegant Bride Magazine – Winter 2009 edition).
I had read it before, but for some reason I didn’t really pay close attention to some very unique details.
The 2009 trend is all about hot, bright, vibrant colors! Perhaps the words bright side, bright colors got my full interest today.

Sheridan & Bo, the couple featured on the article, chose Santa Barbara-CA as their destination wedding celebrating it with vibrant colors.

The outdoor ceremony had an all white palette with white flowers and chivari chairs with cream cushion. For the reception however, red linens and chair covers were paired with flowers in hot pinks and oranges. Vibrant pink, orange, red and yellow blossoms burst from every corner.

Even the bride’s nails were in hot pink… and talking about the bride, how gorgeous is that shoe from MiuMiu???

Last but not least, I am so in love with this feather headpiece. Not too long ago I posted about the feather wedding headpieces from Breeziway (here). When I saw this picture today, I thought… hummm… it really looks very nice! I am definitely considering to wear something like that on my reception.

To contrast the yellow, red, orange and pink, this beautiful, full of details blue cake:

Let them have Havaianas

Give your guests a reason to kick off their shoes...

After spending hours posing for pictures, standing up in church and dancing, your guest will thank you for a pair of flip flops.

With hundreds of unique styles and color to go with your wedding theme, these cool Brazilian flip flops, Havaianas, are extremely comfortable.

Even the bride can wear a more stylish pair covered in Swarovski crystals:

Your flower girl will love these:

Ice, ice, baby.

Have you ever thought of having an ice bar to entertain your guests?
I am not a huge fan of ice sculptures, but those ice bars where your guests can get their drinks directly from the ice sculpture are really getting my attention.
Besides adding some elegance to your celebration, they are really fun.
I am sure your guest will think those ice bars are in fact hot.

Wisdom & Fun - IV

"I never married because there was no need.
I have three pets at home which answer the same purpose as a husband.
I have a dog which growls every morning, a parrot which swears all afternoon, and a cat that comes home late at night."

Picture of the Week - IV

I am getting more and more fascinated with the idea of having cylinder glasses with candles through out the church isle.

I believe it would make a perfect combination with my white pomander (see here).

Happy Square Root Day!!

Today is Square Root Day!

Square Root Day is a rare day that occurs when the day and the month are both the square root of the last two digits of the current year.
In other words: March 3, 2009 : 3/3/09, can be expressed mathematically as:
√9 = 3 or 3² = 3 × 3 = 9.

To ilustrate, unique table number cards representing the square root of the day.

Project Bridesmaids

I received an invitation last week that I would like to share with all of you.

If you are going to be near NYC next weekend, you might consider having some fun donating your bridesmaid dress to a good cause.
It is the PROJECT BRIDESMAIDS.

The project was created by the actress Sharon Stone and her sister, Kelly. The dresses will be distributed to students of several schools across the country for Prom 2009. What a great idea, huh?

Your donated dress will give you access to a full day of fashion shows, prizes, makeovers, shopping, a chance to win a trip to Barbados and much more. Plus, the first 500 guests get a swag bag full of goodies.

If you don’t have a bridesmaid dress, a small donation is also accepted.

Unfortunately I wont be able to make it, but if you are interested, RSVP by March 5th to Brides.com/projectbridesmaids.

The event will be held at:
Hammerstein Ballroom
311 West 34th Street NYC
Saturday - March 07
12-5PM

HAVE FUN and don’t forget to share your experience!!!
